Hardwoods & Softwoods
The last fifty years has seen a seesawing in forestry policy, from chopping down hardwoods and promoting softwoods to the opposite. We feel a middle ground is required - a fully-grown stand of Douglas Fir trees can be a thing of beauty as can a stand of old oaks. And Douglas Fir is one of our best construction timbers, its wood a glorious red colour. So:The woodlands today
We are encouraging our old stands of Douglas, through natural regeneration, whilst at the same time, especially down river valleys, we are giving any hardwood trees plenting of room to grow. And we are not clear-felling.We are also selling our timber thinnings, either as unsawn timber 'in the round' or as timber sawn to size. We have just joined a mobile sawmill cooperative which will enable us to saw to order on the site where the tree is felled.
Contact us for more information and prices- we can cut sizes to your requirements and can also fulfill one-off needs such as curving timber for boats or original roofs.
