Organising Your Dream Wedding at Middle Coombe Farm

house

I was very fortunate to get married here in September 2005 before Middle Coombe Farm was officially a venue. Tim and Angela Malyon were acquaintances but not yet firm friends and when we very cheekily asked if we might have a hundred or so people to the event at their family home, they said ‘yes’. The kindness and excitement extended towards my future husband and myself was unparalleled and a few years later, still smitten with the place, I joined the team and have become part of fabric of Middle Coombe Farm.

Elise&Nick-168-800pxThis passion for sharing their incredible home and their beliefs is infectious and completely genuine. Middle Coombe Farm has been hosting weddings for over seven years now. We are fortunate to be surrounded by 400 acres of sustainably farm and woodland incorporating a stunning thatched cider barn and a woodlands ceremonial site. This is a venue that facilitates your wedding. We are chosen by couples seeking to create something really unique and different for their union.

After much experience and feedback we have found that couples get the best value for money and have the best time by holding the weddings over an entire weekend, so you arrive on a Friday afternoon and get married/ blessed on the Saturday and stay on the estate enjoying the venue until Monday morning, making sure you have time to catch-up properly with your family and friends.

Elise&Nick-165-800pxYou are most welcome here and we want you to feel like the estate is completely yours for your time here.

The Special Day

However you wish to plan your special day there are a few good pointers to ensure the day runs smoothly and joyously. Feeding and watering your guests at an early point in the proceedings keeps the goodwill flowing more freely. Remember, some of your guests will have travelled long distances to join you for your celebration.

I wanted to share an example of the itinerary that was used this summer. It was the perfect time plan for a wedding here. Although your wedding may be very relaxed in attitude, it is vital to have a sensible plan to work to.

It is very important to consider fair weather and wet weather plans….just in case.

Fair Weather

  • 11am Hairdresser onsite
  • 12.00 Registrar will be here by midday
  • 12.30 Ceremony starts with 80 guests in cider barn
  • 13.15 Welcome drinks and nibbles after ceremony
  • 14.00 Speeches in the woods at the ceremonial site
  • 16.00 Hog roast & Wedding feast
  • 17.00 Icycle tricycle
  • 18.30 cutting of the cake and the first dance
  • 18.45 Ceilidh band starts
  • 20.00 Cheese board buffet
  • 21.30 Band finishes and disco starts
  • 23.45 Music Off.

Wet Weather

We have requested in the invites that in case of rain on the day the wedding guests are to bring their waterproofs and wellies so we can continue the same itinerary but with dry feet. If the weather is very bad we will not be going up to the oak tree and woods for the speeches but will have the ceremony e.t.c, in the thatched cider barn.
